1) Complete the cross-country canoe adventure, "Before there were Roads," located on this website. You can find it by going to the site home page, then choosing "Tod's Adventures," then choosing "Tod's Travels." The purple canoe is the one you want!

• The fur trade and the resulting impact on animal populations demonstrate the effects of an industry on the natural environment. Issues relating to the renewable ability of resources and supply-and-demand are also touched upon.
• This activity introduces major physical features of Canada, including rivers, lakes, and mountain ranges.
• This activity identifies the factors that led to the river system becoming the transportation network of the fur trade, and the main issues related to its use.
