Sidebar Instructions

To use the sidebar options with Javascript you must be frames compatible and be using Internet Explorer 3 (or greater); and Netscape Navigator 3 (or greater); otherwise, choose to view our no-frames page.

There are four blue button options at your disposal: The Beginning, L'heidli T'enneh, Meeting of Two Cultures, and the Pioneer Experience. Click one of the blue button options and brief information on that topic will appear in the main frame (bottom right frame). A set number of green submenus will expand under the option you clicked and you will then be able to roll your mouse over the green buttons to see a picture of what's to come. Clicking on one of the green buttons will allow you to explore that topic in depth.

Top Bar Instructions

To use the sidebar options with Javascript you must be frames compatible and use Internet Explorer 3 (or greater) and Netscape Navigator 3 (or greater); otherwise, choose our no-frames page. There are six switches at your disposal: People, Search, Glossary, Sources, Museum, and Feedback. By clicking a switch, the information corresponding to your choice will be loaded into the main frame (bottom right frame).

Timeline Bars

The timeline bars appear at the bottom of each mainframe page (e.g., "The Beginnings") in the frames version. By rolling your mouse over the dates you can view the events that happened on that date in the blue screen below.

People

To view the People page click on the "People" button in the top frame. If you are using the no-frames version, there will be links to the people page at both the top and the bottom of each page. Once you get to this page click on the bookmarks at the top to view the description of the person you are interested in. For example, clicking on "Six Mile Mary" will take you directly to her story. To return to the top of the page to select another person, simply click on the words "return to top" that appear below each person's write-up.

Search Database

To view the Search page click on the "Search" button in the top frame. The Search page only works in the frames version.

Glossary Navigation

To view the Glossary click on the "Glossary" button in the top frame. If you are using the no-frames version there will be links to the glossary page at both the top and the bottom of each page. The glossary is laid out in alphabetical order. Only the images that are from the museum's archive will be linked to a higher-resolution page.

Information Sources

To view the Sources page click on the "Sources" button in the top frame. If you are using the no-frames version there will be links to the sources page at both the top and the bottom of each page. The Sources page is laid out in alphabetical order. We have tried to make each entry as comprehensive as possible.

Feedback

To view the Feedback page click on the "Feedback" button in the top frame. If you are using the no frames version there will be links to the feedback page at both the top and the bottom of each page. There is one email address on the Feedback page—to the Fraser-Fort George Regional Museum. Email the museum to order images and inquire for more information on the museum. There are also bookmarks at the top of the page to "Acknowledgements" and "Design Team." Follow these links to view the people who helped us with the website, and to read a bit more about our team. To return to the top at any point, click on the words "return to top."

Audio Information

On most pages in our frames version there will be buttons named "Hear it here." Click on these buttons and a new window will pop-up and a sound clip will play. To exit these windows just close the windows. You will need RealAudio to hear these clips.

General Information

Many of our images are linked to a page that will give a higher-resolution view as well as information on that photo. If you would like to order a specific image make sure to copy down the image number and the accession number if there is one. Email this information to the Fraser-Fort George Regional Museum.

Throughout the pages in the frames version there are buttons named "Did You Know." Clicking on these buttons will display a new window containing an interesting fact. To exit these simply close the window.

Clicking on a source that follows information on any of the pages will take you directly to that source in the Sources page. Clicking on any highlighted word will take you directly to that word in the Glossary page. The highlighted place names will take you to a map of British Columbia, to give you an idea of where this town is in relation to the rest of British Columbia. Clicking on any highlighted name will take you directly to that person's write-up on the People page. To get back after viewing any of these pages simply click on your browser's back button.
