THE CARIBOO ROAD

In just one year, six and a half million dollars worth of gold was shipped along this road, bringing the wealth of the BC interior to the economic centers of the coast. Thousands of miners on foot, covered wagons, pack trains , stage coaches - even camels traversed the rugged trail! Roadhouses sprang up every fifteen to twenty kilometers providing fresh horses, food and lodging.
