The object of Hopscotch Blueprints is to understand how a building can be described in a two-dimensional way. Go to the floorplan for the Hope CPR Station. Print it out. Take the print-out with you to the hopscotch location you have chosen, and copy the drawing onto the ground giant-size. Write down the names of each room in the correct place. Try to imagine why the builder placed the rooms where he did. Now have a game of hopscotch. Go from the 'freight room' to the 'kitchen' to the 'waiting room'. Draw the railway track running by outside. Draw chalk compass markings on the ground showing the direction you are going. Print out the floorplans for other Measured Drawing Sites. Try St. Mary's Church or Cepperly Mansion. |
