Chilliwack Old City Hall Conversion to a Museum. p. 3). Both the external walls and internal load-bearing walls, of the upper floor level, are made of concrete. While the second storey walls and roof are made of a wooden frame. Although the building is built of two simple materials, the aesthetic appearance is prominent and powerful. In reference to architectural design, the gleaming white City Hall was designed in the Beaux Arts tradition with classical elements. The appearance of the building reflected the optimism and preparation of growth that the town was feeling in the 1910's. The central focus of the building was its entrance with the grand staircase curving from either side. Although its exterior was coloured in a radiant white, the outer structure was constructed entirely of poured and block concrete. The use of concrete ensured the permanence of the building.
