This was Kenneth and Agnes McKenzie's bedroom. They were married in Haddingtonshire in Scotland's East Lothian area, southeast of Edinburgh.

Eight children were born to Kenneth and Agnes, but only the youngest two were born at Craigflower Farm. The oldest were born in Scotland.
This room has some interesting details. The corner Fireplace was important to heat the room.

What do you think the McKenzies used for fuel? The answer is?

The Dressing Table (reputed to have belonged to Robert Weir, one of McKenzie's workers) holds a Hand-braided watch fob.

Women would collect strands of their own and their loved one's hair, then weave them together to form a chain. The chain was made into bracelets and other precious keepsakes. This fob was made by Agnes McKenzie and given to her nephew Alexander Watson.

Such special gifts were often given to one's love interest. It is said that men from the royal Navy, in receiving such a gift, would carve up a small piece of whalebone with inscriptions and present it to their secret admirers. The ladies would use it as a bone in their corset! What kind of love keepsakes do we make and give today?

Then there is Kenneth McKenzie's Top hat and hat case. On the floor are ceramic "Piggies", used as bed warmers.
