First Nations

The Kosapsom Nation have lived on the land known as present day View Royal forever. This was long before Kenneth McKenzie arrived and built Craigflower Schoolhouse and Farm .

The Victoria area (i.e. View Royal, Esquimalt, Songhees) includes the Coast Salish people of the southern Vancouver Island area.

The various Coast Salish peoples include the Straits Salish people.

Descendants of the Kosapsom Nation still reside in the Esquimalt and Songhees area.
